My first portrait drawing for a few months. I’m mostly satisfied with it, and the likeness and psychology are good. I really struggled with the articulation of the head and neck though – getting the sense of weight and roundness. In trying to add further context to the head by including a hint of clothing I got into a bigger mess. The aim was to put down marks that look dynamic and spare. That didn’t work out, but it gives me something specific to focus on next time.
