This week’s life class concentrated on painting. I used acrylic (a bargain set of miniature tubes from Lidl) for pretty much the first time. I tried using them in the same way that I use oil, and although I knew the drying time was quick, I didn’t realise how quick. It took me quite a while to get to grips with the dragging across the support as the paint ran out of fluidity even as it was being applied. I quite like how easy it is to therefore build up impasto layers… but it hasn’t got a hope in hell of usurping my love of oils.
