When I was studying Fine Art in the mid 1990s, I often felt out of time and place in my desire to work in a representational way. It wasn’t until much later that I discovered I wasn’t alone.

The internet has given voice to a thriving community of artists who enjoy working in a time-honoured fashion, want to express themselves through the contemplation of nature, and who aim to infuse their work with a sense of quality and skill.

My efforts have been aided immeasurably by the dialogue that I have found online, in books, and through the many generous people I have met in my quest to become a better artist.

I think it’s important to participate in the sharing of experience, and so I have attempted to note some of the materials & suppliers, as well as books & websites that I have found useful along the way. I hope that anyone on the same path will find something of benefit.
